Matches
Boys in junior school age groups play in blitz type events. These are mixed ability teams and all boys will participate equally in these on a rota basis. The teams are randomly selected so the boys get to know and play with more people encouraging new friendships. The emphasis is on fun and participation and the boys are encouraged to try out the skills they have learned at training and learn to play together as part of a team. The format for the blitzes is in line with the IHA development plan, Hooked for Life – ‘Fun Fours’ for U8s, ‘Super Sixes’ for U10s, moving onto ‘Extreme 8’s’ for U12s.
There is an U14 and an U16 league and boys are selected for these games according to merit. There are a number of factors taken into consideration in team selection including ability, progression, player position, and effort and attendance at training and matches. Teams are always open to change throughout the season and we ask that parents respect the coaches’ opinion.
